Advanced Search is an important feature as it allows you to filter out irrelevant or unwanted results while getting your intended results faster. It can be accessed by editing the current filters used on the ideas page, or by clicking the Magnifying glass at the top of your screen followed by the Dropdown arrow. Just like any other search functionality, this advanced search will help in finding the specific ideas that are relevant to you.
Search for Keywords:
This option allows you to search for the important words from the Idea description. For example, Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning can be excellent keywords for Ideas developing on that subject.
Search for Submitter:
A Submitter is the user who has submitted an idea. By searching for a particular Submitter, you will be able to view all the Ideas that were submitted by that specific user.
Search for Focus Area:
When being submitted, Ideas must be given Focus Areas. In other words, focus areas are specific domains that the Idea is aimed for, such as Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning. This field will allow you to view all Ideas that are part of specific Focus Areas.
Search for Status:
A Status is the state that an Idea is in. Ideas can have many status’, but only one at a time. When submitted, the Idea takes on the “Submitted” Status, then when under evaluation the Status can be “Evaluation”, and so on. This field allows you to view all Ideas under a specific Status.
Search for Contributor:
Contributors can include a wide range of users. As a brief description, a Contributor is a user who has participated in either a Challenge or an Idea. This field allows you to view all Ideas with a specific Contributor.
Search for Tags:
Much like hashtags on social media, Tags can identify areas of interest for that Idea, such as service, sales, automation, etc. This field allows you to view all Ideas with specific Tags.
Search for Category:
When creating an Idea, the Submitter is asked to select a Category in which the Idea will fit. Categories are used most often in showing which area of day-to-day life the Idea will be most relevant, such as Home, Safety, etc. This field allows you to view all Ideas with specific Categories.
Search for Challenge:
Ideas are either Ad-Hoc (independent) or attached to a Challenge. This field allows you to view all Ideas that are attached to a specific Challenge.
Ideas where I am:
This category of search fields will show Ideas that you, as a user, have interacted with. Meaning you are included in all Ideas that will appear after using this filter.
Checking this box will allow you to see all Ideas that were submitted by you.
Checking this box will allow you to see all the Ideas for which you are the Champion. Ideas often times have a Champion, a person who takes the Idea in charge and sees it to completion.
As mentioned above, a Contributor is any user who has interacted with an Idea or a Challenge. Checking this box will show you all the Ideas for which you are a Contributor.
When an Idea is under Evaluation, specific users who are experts in their field review the Idea. They are Reviewers. Checking this box will show you all the ideas for which you are a Reviewer.
It is possible to “watch” an Idea, either to monitor progress or simply because that Idea was of interest to you. Checking this box will show you all the Ideas you have marked to watch.
This section encompasses all Ideas that have certain particularities. Each particularity can be selected through different boxes explained below which allow the user to filter them/find them.
Have no Challenge:
This box allows you to see all Ideas that are Ad-Hoc.
This box allows you to see all Ideas that are attached to a Challenge.
Have no Champion:
This box allows you to see all Ideas that have no Champion. As mentioned above, Champions are users that take charge of an Idea and see it through completion.
This box allows you to see all Ideas that are Archived, meaning they are either completed or closed. These Ideas are no longer active.
Are Master Ideas:
Master Ideas are Ideas that are usually very detailed and contain lots of information. To avoid clutter, similar Ideas (with the same subject matter) are merged with said detailed Idea, marking it as a “Master Idea”. This box allows you to see all Ideas that are marked as Master.
Are Children Ideas:
Children Ideas are Ideas that have sprouted from any Idea or have been merged with another Idea containing more information. This box allows you to see all Ideas that are marked as “child Idea”.
Are in Draft Status:
When creating an Idea, it is possible to save it as a draft instead of posting it, just like an email. This box allows you to see all Ideas that have the “draft” status.
